About the Project: Shark attacks are global traumatic events that generate social and economic costs. Shark attacks on human beings leading to various types of injuries and even death in some cases is not
uncommon. Improved understanding of shark attacks risks may help to inform shark management strategies, help human beings to better understand risk factors leading to such attacks and ultimately help to improve human
safety, and shark conservation.
This project aims to interactively visualize shark attacks cases across the globe by developing an interactive web application using the data collected by Global Shark Attack File. This project will apply visual
analytics techniques to effectively demonstrate shark attacks over time in a more dynamic and interactive way.
The original global shark attack data was collected and provided by the Global Shark Attack File. Global Shark Attack File is a global dataset of shark attacks, which contains information on over 6,300 shark attacks,
and includes detailed, often privileged, information including reports and photos. The global shark attack data used in this project was downloaded from Kaggle.
